Sport and other extra-curricular activities are an important part of life at Newport. Extra-curricular activities are offered to all children throughout their time at the school. Although children take part in the activities for fun and enjoyment, we feel they play an important part in the education of the child. Commitment, perseverance and working as a team are all important life skills.

Children take part in sport in two ways. First they are taught skills within their P.E. lessons and secondly they can opt to join one of the many after school clubs (see list above). Staff have coaching qualifications in football, rugby, basketball and swimming.

The school competes in district competitions having representative teams in football, cricket, rugby and netball. Competitive sport is encouraged.

We are lucky to have a field and playground together with an indoor hall, which are used throughout the school day and for after school clubs.

Our School Choir performs throughout North Devon. Adults and children join in.

‘Check it Out’ Club – Reverend Dodwell and Mrs Clarke (supply teacher) run  ‘Check it Out’ Club . Using games, crafts and stories the children learn about Christian faith. There are a maximum of 30 places available for children from Year 2 to Year 6. The club runs on Thursday evenings in the school hall until 4pm.

If your child is interested in this club please complete a slip at the school office.
