Eco-Schools Bronze Award


We have signed up to become an Eco-School and a Plastic Free School!


  • Raises environmental awareness
  • Run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy
  • Part of a global community for environmental change
  • Focusses on ten topics: Biodiversity, Energy, Global Citizenship, Healthy Living, Litter, Marine, School Grounds, Transport, Waste and Water
  • Seven step framework leading to the Bronze, Silver and The Green Flag award.

Plastic Free Schools

  • Pupil-led programme to create environmental change.
  • Reduces our reliance on single-use plastic,
  • Run by Surfers Against Sewage.
  • Linked to ‘Plastic Free North Devon’ and ‘Plastic Free Barnstaple’
  • Follows five objectives that link closely to the Eco-Schools Award
  • Results in our school receiving ‘Plastic Free’ status.

Our Eco-Journey So Far

We have:

  • Formed an Eco-Council,
  • Environmental Review and
  • Created four actions for our Eco-Schools Action Plan.

We will:

  • Reduce energy by switching off lights and computers
  • Reduce the use of single use plastics
  • Increase the amount of lessons taught (or time spent) outside in our environment.
  • Compost our food waste.
