Year 6 Author Visit & Portal Stories

Last Friday, Year Six were visited by the author Karen McCombie who has written books such as 'How to Be A Human.' She gave a really inspirational talk about her journey as an author and the process of getting your own book published.

This week, Year 6 have been starting to plan their own portal stories using ideas for planning given to us from Karen - she told us that she is often inspired to write by the things she has read, by her experiences and also the films she watches.

Reassuringly, she told us that all authors 'magpie' their ideas from these experiences and she gave us the strategy of thinking 'What if?' to invent our own ideas.

We're really excited to see the portal stories which Year 6 write before half term!
