Children at Newport Community School Primary Academy are encouraged to explore, design, make and evaluate throughout their primary years.
Children in Nursery take part in activities in continuous provision such as loose parts play and tinker tables to support fine motor skills and use of tools, as well as their understanding of the design, make and evaluate cycle that is at the heart of Design and Technology.
As they move up through school, children have many opportunities to explore the Design and Technology areas of food, mechanisms, electronics, IT, textiles and construction, linked to Learning Explorations wherever meaningful.
As part of transition to KS3, children have the opportunity to visit The Park Community School to take part in a Design and Technology project.
