Global
Learning
At
Newport
The Learning Explorations of Newport Community Primary Academy incorporate the Global Learning concepts of Social justice and equity, Identity and diversity, Globalisation and interdependence, Sustainable development, Peace and conflict, Human rights, Power and governance. They run through and connect our curriculum to explore the interconnections between the local and the global while building knowledge and understanding, and developing skills and attitudes.

In a region of relative geographical isolation, the Academy feels that it is important that Global Learning form a central strand in the Academy’s curriculum, so that pupils gain a better understanding of the world around them. This focus allows teachers to be internationally-minded and progressive in their planning and teaching, and pupils to respect other people and human rights, value diversity, show concern for the environment, show commitment to participation and inclusion, and believe they can bring about change.
