In literacy, we have been working on adverbials, expanded nouns and figurative language. To help with this, the pupils took clipboards with them to describe the setting of the Go Wild area. They used their senses and created some wonderful phrases and interesting similes.

‘On the branches, there were fresh leaves that were as green as cucumber.’

‘Near the tree, a muddy hill was as slippery as a water slide.’

‘The tree was covered in vines that wrapped around it like a snake.’

‘As we walked, the dry leaves crunching sounded like crackers being eaten.’
