This week Year 5 took part in a live lesson from the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden along with 190 schools from all across the world. Our lesson was run by one of the soprano singers from the Opera Company. We time travelled through the history of Opera and heard live singing from some of the professional cast of the Royal Opera House.
We watched backstage tours, learnt how costumes, make-up and wigs are designed and made, then found out about how special effects, lights and sound effects help create the atmosphere on the stage.
Year 5 were very excited to take part in this session, it was a wonderful opportunity and a fitting climax to our Music topic this term about Opera. This term we have learnt three songs from the Opera Carmen and choreographed our own performances.
Ask Alexa to play the Torreador Song or Children's Chorus from Bizet's Carmen and enjoy listening to your children sing along.
