Year 5 Rules and Responsibilities

In PSHE this week we were considering rules and responsibilities. The children devised their own games (using interesting objects from Jigsaw Jez’s bag!) and then had to explain the rules for others to play.

After, we linked rules, responsibilities and consequences to school life, and society as a whole. We considered our favoured rewards and sanctions, discussing together how our actions affect ourselves and others – and that we have the choice and opportunity to learn from them.

Some children thought a trophy would make a good reward for making good choices, and others a hug! During our game-playing we noticed how the cheering and happiness of our peers was a reward in itself, as we cooperated and shared in each other’s fun.
